June 2005

This morning Tara and I woke up on a very sad note. After coming downstairs, I sat down at my laptop to check my class. I happened to look into my rat cage. Xena was running around, but Gabrielle was very still. Granted this has happened several times, after tapping on the cage, clicking, etc., she was still laying down. She didn’t move. She was dead.

The book I had on rats said they had a two year life span. I suppose it was right. Sorry Xena, but I suppose you’re next.

CAUGHT!

Two fugitives, one caucasian, the other mulatto, both about 8 inches long, 2lbs, were seen fleeing their cell in the 40th block of Blake Loop, Newport News, yesterday evening. The suspects were caught in mid-escape when the warden returned from an outing at the Omni. The two suspects tried to escape further, but were delayed when they realized the drop to the ground from the desk was too high for them to jump. They were both captured and once again placed in their cell.

All of this resulted from the warden allowing them too much trust and leaving the top of their cell unlocked. Clearly the two inmates got fiesty and aimed for freedomg. The two are doing well this morning, however. They were both somewhat traumatized, but the warden calmed them down with a scoop of Cocoa Puffs cereal. Since the evening, the two have resumed their daily activities of burrowing, drinking, pooping, and wrestling.

Tara and I have officially moved into our new townhouse in Kingstowne. The good thing is that the place has been completely renovated. All of our appliances are brand spankin’ new, as it the carpet, cabinets, fixtures, and paint. They’re giving Featherstone a run for their money.

The downside is that we have crap everywhere. We’re sorting through tubs and boxes of so much stuff, we don’t know where to put it all. There’s plenty of space, we just have to figure out what goes where. I think moving in was harder than moving out!!!

We ARE making progress. We definately have to be done by this weekend as her parents are coming down. I’m also taking the Praxis II (wish me luck)! Luckily I have off for four days straight, so that’ll be nice. I really like this place. Once we get it up, I’ll take some pictures and post them.
