So I haven’t written anything in two weeks. I suppose I usually write when something or other is happening, and now is no exception. A great deal has been going on in the employment field in the past week or so. It all started with a little interview with General Stanford Elementary for a Kindergarten Teacher Assistant. This was on Friday the 19th. I was really excited about the possibility of working at this school, as it was very unique due to it being on a military base. However, they didn’t call back. We went to Nags Head that weekend with the family.
The following week I received a call from McIntosh Elementary. Unfortunately, Tara’s grandfather had passed away, so we were in DE/PA for a few days. I called McIntosh and explained my situation. The principal was willing to do an interview on Thursday the 25th in the morning. Mind you, assistants were set to start the very next day. It was for a Special Ed ED classroom. After thinking about it, I decided to take consider it as I hadn’t heard from the other school. I called her to let her know I was interested, and she called Newport News Human Resources. They then called me and filled me in on a little surprise. You see, they had known all along they were going to offer me the job at General Stanford. They just waited until the last minute to do so. I felt bad as I had told McIntosh that I’d accept there’s, but I couldn’t turn down General Stannford… until now.
You see, that same night after I accepted the job, I got a call from my mom. Apparently the principal from my high school was trying to get in touch with me. Long story short, there was a possibility of them having an opening in social studies, and she remembered that was my field. Rather than doing an all out search, she wanted to consider me, if it truly arose. Well, today it arose. I got the call the officially needed someone. I’ve emailed my transcript and scores, and will hopefully hear from them tomorrow morning to see if it can be offered to me or not. In the event it is, I will definitely take it. It’s a step in the right direction towards gaining experience, and getting a huge raise compared to a TA’s salary.
But herein lies the problem… How do I break the news to General Stanford? Their principal is so nice, and I know they were really looking forward to having me there. However, I haven’t signed a formal contract yet, so it’s not like I’m breaking one. So technically I still haven’t accepted the job, even though I’ve gone in for two days. Why do these things always have to happen to me?
Fate sure has sucky timing.

So I heard from Garrow that you can type in “(Your name) is” into google and find some funny things. He had a really good one, so I thought I’d try. Here’s a few.
1. Matt is the straight-edge Catholic raver/virgin.
2. Matt is the one associating Republicans with extremists.
3. Matt is available for speaking engagements at conferences.
4. Matt is hiding in the closet.
5. Matt is small for his age and very slender.
Bottom line: Matt is apparently a skinny dwarf who rocks out to the pope while bashing republicans at a gay rights convention.
Hmmmm….?

Holy moley! I didn’t realize it had been so long since I had posted! Here’s a few updates…
Cats:
The kitties are doing well. Caesar’s out of the tent. We actually had him and Cleo boarded while we went to the Kiwanis District Convention. When we got back and picked them up, they were alright. They’re back to running around like crazy people and fighting like the WWE! I love my kitties! We chose not to board them this time when we left for CKI ICON. We bought an auto feeder and auto waterer. They’ll be alright, but I can’t wait to get back to them. It’s so nice to wake up in the morning to see they’re sleeping with me. The unfortunate thing, however, is when Cleo decides to wake me up at 3AM by trying to sleep in the crevess between my neck and shoulder. I don’t know why she loves that spot so much, but it’s pretty annoying. She’s still so cute though.
Kiwanis:
Last weekend we went to the Kiwanis district convention. It was, well, a convention. There wasn’t anything memorable about it. Although it got the job done, there were obvious things this convention lacked. There were practically no exhibits, the workshops blew, and the meals were way too expensive! Too bad we have to wait a year until the next convention due to the regional midwinter concept.
Circle K:
Now I’m at the Circle K International Convention in Greensboro. We drove down yesterday. The four hour ride became a six hour ride as there was a huge accident on I-85 that closed down both sides. We had to journey through the ghetto, surburbia, and an area that was apparently 99% hispanic. The nifty thing was that we were going so slow, I was able to have my laptop open mooching wireless internet access from the random houses we were passing. Just a note, one of the networks was called “TheHood”. Interesting.
Last night we had the Alumni Reception. It was quite surprising that there were that many alumni present. It was good to see some of them, like Kate and Kathy, and even Carol Clyde. I’m currently sitting in my bed at the Super 8 mooching more internet from some random connection. I like this wireless thing…
