September 2006

Tuesday was supposed to be the first day of school. It wasn’t. Tropical Storm Ernesto made sure of that.

So we moved on to Wednesday. The day was going great. (My freshmen are TONS better than before!) Seventh period had arrived, and the baroness of bookkeeping strolled into my room with a stack full of letters. School would be closed Thursday and Friday due to issues with the water resulting from Ernesto. He has struck again.

We move on to Monday. As of now, that’ll be the 2nd day of school. Of course, Hurricane Florence is potentially on her way, so we’ll see.

If this is any indication of how this year will be, I’m looking forward to lots of snow days. Up yours, Global Warming!

So Tara and I were on our way back to Gloucester from the high school and we had just gotten into Hartfield. We were proceeding on our our way when we hit a traffic back up. Apparently there was an accident. A few cop cars drove by, and we slowly inched our way down the road. As we inched, a pickup truck drove by us on to the accident, then another, and another. By the time we had made a visual on the accident, there were two cop cars present, one fire truck, one ambulance, and THIRTEEN pickup trucks. They had all descended on the scene like flies on crap. They had all gotten out of their trucks and were just standing around. Is this really necessary? I thought this was bad in Lancaster, but apparently it’s even worse in Middlesex.

I suppose those residents of Middlesex can rest at peace. In the event of an emergency, the Middle Peninsula Redneck Superforce will come to the rescue… and supervise.
