So we were going over Egypt in my World History class the other day, and since we can’t take the students to the past, we have to bring the past to the students…

As you may or may not know, we Virginians we be faced with a very important issue this November. Sure, we’ll be voting for a senator, a congressman, and several other things, but we’ll also be voting on 3 ballot issues.
The first deals with marriage. Essentially, #1 (the Marshall/Newman amendment) would put into the constitution of Virginia that a marriage is between one man and one woman. Now, while that may not seem too bad, there is additional language in the amendment that would pretty much remove all rights non-married couples have, regardless of whether they are heterosexual or homosexual. Although this amendment may have been targeted to prevent same sex marriages, there’s a rider aspect to it that will hurt non-married couples as well.
My suggestion: VOTE NO to #1 on election day. This of course, means you need to get out and vote!
